Lucida Cut Diamonds Shape

 Lucida diamond ring

In 1999 Tiffany & Co. introduced and started promoting Lucida™ diamond cut. Lucida™ was designed to target a new customer seeking a more contemporary look. The cut was launched in New York City in September 1999 at a gala party at the Sky Club, with a Tiffany Blue light show brightening the Manhattan skylight. For the evening's event, model Christy Turlington was chosen as the woman reflective the cut - classic yet contemporary. The worldwide launch was backed by an extensive advertising campaign highlighting not only the patented diamond cut but also the distinctive setting.

According to Tiffany it is reminiscent of the Asscher and antique cushion cuts. Termed a "modern classic" by Tiffany, the shape is a square mixed cut. It has 50 facets, a high crown, stepped facets, wide corners and a small table, with a deep pavilion. Using a combination of step cut and a brilliant faceting on the pavilion, the cut produces a contemporary version of the cushion. A special setting has been made to show-case the Lucida™ cut. Tiffany quite succeeded in promoting Lucida™ diamond and its setting became rather popular. If you are considering buying the Lucida™ diamond you might want to take the following into account.

 Lucida Diamond Ring

A special setting has been made to show-case the Lucida™ cut. Tiffany quite succeeded in promoting Lucida™ diamond and its setting became rather popular. The thick band with slightly thicker trellis style prongs has become a standard for shoppers seeking a contemporary setting for round or square shaped diamonds.

Because of the steep crown and deep pavilion (large total depth) the Lucida™ diamond looks much smaller than round brilliant diamond of the same weight. Many of our clients who initially asked about the Lucida discovered they really like the looks and price of the square radiant better. In addition, you can find similar designs of settings (described as Lucida style settings) for much lower prices. If you like the general look of Tiffany's Lucida™ ring, you should consider a square radiant in a Lucida style setting for about half the price of a Lucida™ ring in the famous little blue box.
