Cushion Cut Diamond Ring: 1.71 carat with 1.01 ratio in Bez Ambar pave mounting

 Cushion Cut Engagement Rings

This beautiful cushion cut diamond ring has a 1.71-carat square cushion cut diamond set in a custom platinum Bez Ambar engagement ring. The diamond ring features sixty-three pave round diamonds with 0.47 total carat weights around the cushion cut in a knife-edge style and going half way down the shank.

The cushion cut diamond measures 7.04 x 6.94 x 4.64 mm so it has a length-to-width ratio of 1.01. Cushion cut diamonds come in various shapes from those almost square (length to width ratio 1.05 or less) to very rectangular (ratio 1.30 or more) to everything in between. The classic pillow shape tends to have ratios in the 1.10 - 1.20 range. This cushion cut diamond has a 66.9% depth percentage and a 59% table percentage. For cushion-cut diamonds, we recommend a depth of 59-69% and table of 50-65% with smaller percentages generally producing bigger size for the carat weight and better cut.

 Cushion Cut Diamond Rings

The cushion cut diamond was one of the most popular cuts of diamonds ever. From approximately 1830 to the turn of the century the cushion shape was simply how diamonds were cut. The cushion cut diamond is a generic name for the Old Mine Cut, developed before the turn of the century. The older cushion cut diamonds return light in blocky patterns while the modern cut stones return light in a needlelike pattern, usually with smaller culets. The sparkle, brilliance and beauty of the cushion shape has more to do with the skill of the cutter fashioning the facets than it does with the choice of one of three basic facet patterns. In the past ten years, there has been a revival in the popularity of the cushion cut diamond shape. Interestingly, cushion cut diamonds are one of the most popular shapes for fancy colored diamonds because the shape displays the color evenly throughout the stone.

The custom Bez Ambar diamond ring displays the stunning cushion cut diamond with knife-edge pave diamonds. The knife-edge refers to two rows of pave diamonds. One row frames the center cushion cut diamond while the second row angles down towards the shank. This mounting style is exceptional because it gracefully frames the center diamond and provides sparkle from every angle. The diamond "frame" also makes the center stone appear larger than the actual carat weight. The pave diamonds gently curve up from the shank and stop at the knife-edge frame. The side of the shank is flush so that custom matching diamond bands can be stacked next to each other without any gaps. Matching wedding bands that fit perfectly up against an engagement ring are very difficult to find and much appreciated. The diamonds go half way around the shank so that this ring can be resized if necessary in the future. Bez Ambar custom diamond rings display world-class craftsmanship with pave second to none.
