Cushion Cut Engagement Rings

The cushion cut diamond measures 8.23 x 6.50 x 3.97 mm so it has a length-to-width ratio of 1.27. Cushion cut diamonds come in various shapes from those almost square (length to width ratio 1.05 or less) to very rectangular (ratio 1.30 or more) to everything in between. The classic pillow shape tends to have ratios in the 1.10 - 1.20 range. This cushion cut diamond has a 61.1% depth percentage and a 64% table percentage. For cushion-cut diamonds, we recommend a depth of 59-69% and table of 50-65% with smaller percentages generally producing bigger size for the carat weight and better cut.

The cushion cut diamond shape was one of the most popular cuts of diamonds ever. From approximately 1830 to the turn of the century, the cushion cut was simply how diamonds were cut. The cushion cut diamond is a generic name for the Old Mine Cut, developed before the turn of the century. The older cushion shape diamonds return light in blocky patterns while the modern cut stones return light in a needlelike pattern, usually with smaller culets. The sparkle, brilliance, and beauty of the cushion cut diamond has more to do with the skill of the cutter fashioning the facets than it does with the choice of one of three basic facet patterns. In the past ten years, there has been resurgence in the popularity of the cushion cut diamond shape. Interestingly, cushion shape diamonds are one of the most popular shapes for fancy colored diamonds because the shape displays the color evenly throughout the stone.

The custom Richard Landi diamond ring showcases the stunning cushion cut diamond using pave diamonds and filigree to create and old world appearance. The five pave diamonds gently flow down the shank on each side ending with a beautiful hand carved design on the underside. The stunning side view of this diamond ring has four diamonds right below the antique crown-style basket head. The exceptional cushion cut diamond is set sideways which adds to the ambiance of this diamond ring. This diamond ring is perfect for the woman who wants a dazzling sparkle of a cushion cut diamond with a unique antique mounting. This custom platinum diamond ring exudes world-class craftsmanship.
