Asscher cut diamond ring with 1.04 carat square emerald cut diamond graded F color, VS1 clarity, depth 68.1 %, table 63 %, Excellent polish, Good symmetry, No fluorescence, and measuring 5.69 x 5.61 x 3.82 mm (ref: GIA 14634674, laser inscribed, dated 08/11/2005) set in a custom platinum [Stamped PLAT] three stone mounting with one round diamond on each shoulder (0.24 total carat weight) and five round shared-prong diamonds (0.11 total carat weight) ascending half way down the top of the shank.

The GIA considers shapes square when the length-to-width ratio is 1.05 or less. For Asscher shape diamonds, we suggest a depth of 58-69% and table of 50-65% with smaller percentages producing larger size for the carat weight and better cut. The table-cut diamond rings of the Renaissance inspired the Asscher cut diamond. The Asscher shape has a similar appearance to the emerald cut but the Asscher cut is most notably square in shape. The Asscher shape diamond distinguishes itself from the emerald cut with a high crown, smaller table and larger step facets, which produce more light and fire than the emerald shape diamond. The Asscher shape also features dramatic cut corners, which make the setting process easier than setting the pointed corners of a princess cut diamond. The Asscher cut diamond’s facets create a wide windmill reflection in a concentric square pattern. The Asscher cut diamond is a great option for women that prefer a mesmerizing glisten of the old world to the crushed ice appearance of a brilliant cut diamond.
