What if I do not like the diamond?
You can return the diamond for any reason within the inspection period. If you are not satisfied with the diamond, simply contact us within the inspection period to arrange shipping using the FedEx Return Label and instructions provided in the package with the diamond. We release the credit card authorization or refund the wire transfer as soon as we receive the diamond back in its original condition. The refunded amount is the purchase price less shipping and insurance.

How can you make me more comfortable?
We understand your concern and encourage you to ask any questions you might have. Since we have clients all over the country, let us know if you would like to contact some clients in your area. Many have offered to describe their buying experience with us. We are members in good standing of the Better Business Bureau, Chamber of Commerce and with two local banks. Our safe and easy way of doing business allows you to examine the diamond before you purchase and you can get the opinion of an independent appraiser too before making payment. Over half our business is from referrals and the only way that happens is for clients to get great value for their money and an enjoyable buying experience. That's what we do every day for clients nationwide and that is what we can do for you.

How is the diamond shipped?
All loose diamonds and rings are shipped via FedEx Priority Next Day service and are insured by a third party insurance company while in transit. We recommend having the package held at a convenient FedEx office for you to pickup but can deliver to work or residential addresses if there is someone there to sign for the package.

What is in the package shipped with the diamond?
Loose diamonds are shipped in a protective case within a FedEx delivered box. We also include a 10x loupe so you can inspect the diamond and a "ring holder" that is a spring loaded devise that looks like a ring and enables you to hold the diamond without touching it with your oily finger tips. The paperwork in the package includes a copy of the certification since most cutters keep the original until the diamond is sold. The original will be mailed to you once you make your purchase decision. We also include an invoice describing the diamond, credit card price and cash discount. Return instruction are included along with a return FedEx label that is simply put on a FedEx box being returned to us.

Do you charge sales tax?

Do you provide a warranty on your diamonds?
We guarantee the diamond we provide is the diamond matching the certification. We leave insurance to the insurance companies and we focus on what we do best which is to sell high quality diamonds with very low prices. Can I come to your office to examine the diamond?
Please come see us. Unlike most online diamonds dealers, we welcome clients to come to our office to meet us and examine the diamond we have inspected for you. We require an appointment to ensure we can devote the time you deserve to carefully examine the diamond and for us to answer any questions you might have. You get to view the diamond under a high power microscope and we point out all characteristics of the diamond (good and bad) so you can make a very informed purchase decision. Most online diamond companies don't even see, let alone inspect, the diamond because they have them shipped directly from a wholesaler. We think you deserve better service than that so encourage you to visit us if you are within driving distance.

How long have you been in business?
Diamond Source of Virginia was created in 1989 and we have been selling high quality diamonds with very low prices to clients nationwide online since 1999. Over half our business is from referrals and our web site provides a source of diamond education for over a thousand online visitors a day.

Do you sell rings too?
We specialize in selling loose diamonds but make every effort to assist our clients with getting their diamond set in beautiful settings. We have access to many suppliers and designers so have provided clients with many beautiful rings and diamond jewelry. If we can not provide it for you, we encourage you to shop locally where they can try it on and be sure they are getting exactly what they want. Let us know what setting style you are seeking and we will tell how best to get the best setting at the best price.

How can you keep prices low but the quality high?
When you walk into a jewelry store, take a look at the polished marble floors, the fancy display cases, the trays and safe full of inventory, the custom lighting, and the employees standing around waiting for customers. These are all overhead costs that you cannot wear out of the store. Often these jewelry store overhead costs and the jeweler's profits are more than their wholesale cost of the diamond. Our business model avoids most of the overhead of a retail jewelry store and lets you put more of your money towards the diamond rather than those polished marble floors and fancy display cases. We also reduce overhead by avoiding high priced advertising like magazines, newspapers, billboards, radio, and television. Instead, we rely on word of month and our website.

Why aren't there more online companies like yours?
One of our favorite sayings is, "If it were easy, everyone would be doing it." We have spent 20 years in the industry developing supplier relationships, efficient business processes and client loyalty. Most online diamond dealers don't what to deal with customers other than to collect their money. They don't want to do the work involved with a detailed diamond search and responsive communication. Most also avoid or prohibit clients from coming to their office and almost none want to take the time to see let alone inspect the diamond for you. We think our clients deserve all the time and attention they need to made an educated decision and for us to find the best diamond for them on the wholesale market. Our best advertising is a breathtaking diamond on someone's hand and their referrals. That only comes if they bought a beautiful diamonds at a very low price and had a positive buying experience with us.

Are your prices negotiable?
We believe every client deserves the best price on every diamond, every day without having to haggle and negotiate. The game of marking prices up only to discount them is not being fair and courteous with the customer. We have access to the inventories hundreds of cutters and wholesalers so are able to find the best values on the wholesale market for you. We email you with our recommendations for the best of the best diamonds meeting your requirements and let you decide which will be the best diamond for you. The price of the diamond will be the price at the time we order it in for our inspection in cases where price increases have occurred between the time we first recommend a diamond and the time you request us to order it for inspection.

How fast do you respond to my request?
If you submit a request during regular business hours (9 am - 7 pm Mon-Fri), we make every effort to finish your search and email you recommendations the same day and usually with an hour or two. Requests submitted later in the business day or when the office is closed will be replied to early the next business day. If you have questions and want a quick answer, give us a call and we will be happy to help you. Email questions are answered quickly during business hours.

Do you provide financing?
We accept all major credit cards for payment but encourage wire transfers or deposit to take advantage of the 3% cash discount. We let the banks and other financial companies do what they do best (loan money) so we can focus on what we do best (sell great diamonds at low prices). If you have financing questions, give us a call and perhaps we can suggest a creative solution.

How can I avoid enhanced or treated diamonds?
Your best protection is to purchase a GIA or AGS certified diamond to ensure you have a natural diamond with no treatments or enhancements. We carefully inspect every diamond to ensure it is the diamond that matches the certification and we agree with the specification stated in the certification. You also have the option of getting the opinion of an independent appraiser before you purchase.
